Tarrif Impact Notice
A Message from Lux Lampshades on Tariffs and What’s Ahead
From Robert – President & Owner
At Lux Lampshades, we’ve always believed that every challenge brings an opportunity to evolve—and the new tariffs are no exception.
Like many small businesses, we’re feeling the strain. Since 2002, we’ve grown from importing 100% of our products from Asia to building our own U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities. Today, we proudly design and import globally, sourcing beautiful fabrics and materials from England, Italy, India, Africa, and beyond. While we continue to import from Asia, we’ve invested heavily in American jobs and innovation. Lux is no longer just a lampshade company—we're a solutions provider for our customers.
These 2025 tariffs present a serious challenge, not just for us but for our partners and customers as well. But this isn’t our first test. In 2019, a warehouse fire destroyed most of our inventory. Just as we recovered, COVID-19 brought a whole new wave of disruption. Still, we persevered—and we’ll do it again.
Here’s how we’re responding now:
-
Inventory Transparency – We’re actively updating our stock listings so you can see what’s available in real time.
-
Custom Products – Our U.S. team will continue crafting custom products, made in the USA directly from our website.
-
Innovation Ahead – We’re excited to launch a brand-new pendant lighting platform in the next 6 weeks—designed and made in the USA. This new product line will allow us to highlight beautiful materials from around the world.
We want to be transparent about what to expect:
-
Prices will rise for both imported and domestic lampshades due to increased costs for materials like wire and fabric—most US manufactures have global supply chains.
-
Custom orders may face delays as manufacturers nationwide navigate sourcing challenges.
Despite it all, we’re committed to staying creative, nimble, and customer-focused. Your support means everything to us—and together, we’ll get through this next chapter.
Thank you,
Robert
